University of Miami Lakeside Village

An expansive 12-acre student village is comprised of over two-dozen interconnected buildings and a multitude of outdoor spaces including a grand courtyard, study spots, recreational spaces, and outdoor terraces. There are five floors of student housing for over 1,100 students. The first floor and mezzanine level of the main structure serve as retail, event and office spaces. In an effort to activate the space surrounding a beautiful lake setting, amenities include a large exhibition space for dynamic programming and other meeting spaces such as an auditorium, a classroom, and multi-use pavilion.
Scope of Work: M-Communications was appointed as sole-contractor by Notora LLC to install a public safety system. Public safety BDA systems are two-way radio systems used to assist first responders in the event of an emergency. The goal of a BDA/DAS is to eliminate communication “dead spots” or “dead zones” in a building by extending coverage range so that First Responders can communicate as needed.
